Jezebel Website to Be Relaunched By Paste Magazine

The feminist website Jezebel is making a comeback after being shut down earlier this month.

On Wednesday, Paste Magazine announced its acquisition from G/O Media.

Jezebel’s “acquisition means that the critical information and content that Jezebel readers have come to rely on will live on,” said Paste Founder and Editor-in-Chief Josh Jackson, according to AP News. “Jezebel’s unique voice and commitment to storytelling make it a perfect addition to our portfolio.”

G/O Media decided to shut down Jezebel after months of unsuccessful attempts to find a buyer.

Launched in 2007 by Gawker Media, Jezebel gained a devoted following for its sharp commentary on gender politics and edgy pop culture coverage.

According to The Associated Press, Paste Magazine swiftly secured an all-cash deal to buy Jezebel after it shut down, with plans to resume publishing as early as this week.

“It took us a day to realize we could be the ones to bring it back from the dead,” Jackson said. “But it was important that we do a deal quickly and get the site back up and running so the devoted audience would still be there.”
