There’s a chance the big fight against Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana may not happen tomorrow, according to The Money Team.
Everlast makes two types of gloves and the gloves Marcos Maidana plans to wear Everlast gloves to tomorrow’s fight are filled with horsehair, which can be moved. There is less petting in the glove, and more in the rest, making a punching surface that is more hand and less glove. The glove is within regulation by the NAC (Nevada Athletic Commission) but Floyd’s team is arguing that Maidana should use gloves that are more padded. “No way, he’s not going to be using those gloves, there’s no padding in them. I’m not going to be no vegtable for the rest of my life,” says Floyd.
The NAC left it up to both camps to come up with a solution. But after reps from both sides met for several hours, the commission ruled that the specific gloves Maidana wanted to use were not allowed, but that the Everlast brand and style would be acceptable.
The Money Team threatens that if Maidana does not change his gloves, the fight is off. Maidana’s team then reportedly packed up and left.
We’re hearing that since this is not a commission issue the chance that the fight will NOT go on is very slim.
