The winner of “Squid Game: The Challenge” says the cash prize hasn’t arrived and is waiting for the millions of dollars, despite winning ten months ago.
Mai Whelan, 55, spoke with the Times and said, “I feel like Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire. Show me the money!” as she confirmed she still hadn’t received the money.
Whelan, who escaped Vietnam as a young girl during the communist regime, doesn’t know why she hasn’t received the $4,560,000. It’s possible that Netflix was waiting for the finale episode to air, which was Wednesday.
Some fans wondered if Whelan would share any of the prize with her fellow contestants, but evidently, the contract prohibits her from doing so, TMZ reported.
Mai told the Times although she hasn’t received the check, she has treated herself to a new haircut, Jimmy Choo shoes, and a Ralph Lauren dress.
Mai says she plans to buy a retirement home and donate to issues she cares about when she finally gets the cash prize.
