The individual involved in a collision with President Joe Biden‘s motorcade was hit with DUI charges.
The Wilmington (Del.) Police Department reported that the 46-year-old driver was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and with inattentive driving. Authorities concluded that the collision was unintentional.
“Following our investigation, Wilmington Police have determined that this was an accidental collision, and have charged the driver of the striking vehicle – a 46-year-old Wilmington man – with Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol and Inattentive Driving,” Wilmington Police Department Communications Director David Karas said.
After attending a reception with campaign staff, the Biden’s emerged from the event just past 8 p.m. President Biden paused to address a question about his poll standings, stating that reporters were examining “the wrong polls.” Shortly thereafter, a sedan collided with an SUV strategically positioned at the intersection across the street from the campaign headquarters to manage traffic.
