Boxer Gervonta Davis Leads Renovation Efforts in Childhood West Baltimore Neighborhood

Baltimore City Officials have announced that Boxer Gervonta “Tank” Davis is contributing to the renovation of his childhood West Baltimore neighborhood.

During the press conference, Davis emphasized the importance of investing in the youth as a pivotal measure for improving Baltimore City.

“I definitely want to thank everybody that was included and helped us make this happen,” Davis said.  “I feel as though when I was coming up, we didn’t have somebody to be hands-on with us.”

Following Davis’ donation, renovations will commence with the vacant building at 1542 North Woodyear Street.

GTD Development plans to acquire and renovate nine properties on the same block, repurposing them for affordable housing.

“Tank, when he goes around the world, he literally carries the city of Baltimore on his back,” said Baltimore City Council President Nick Mosby.  “For you to come back, invest in your hometown, invest in your community, and invest in your block – is truly, truly special.”

According to reports, Davis plans to collaborate with his team to continue building homes and, in the future, expand efforts to create recreational spaces.
