Some fans are side-eyeing Trina for calling Beyonce the best female rapper.
In a newly unveiled interview with Hip-Hop DX, the Miami star said Beyonce opened the door for new female rappers to take over the industry.
“She’s like the number one female rapper when she does rap…when you hear her do a song and its rapping involved, it’s like ‘Oh My God,’ it’s more inspiration,” Trina explained.
By now, we all know that Trina is part of the BeyHive. However, as the clip spread, the Barbz wasted no time with their theory. Nicki Minaj’s fanbase felt that Trina was trying to take a stab at the “Pink Friday 2” star. If you recall, ffans speculated about a rift between the two following the botched rollout of their single, “BAPS,” in 2019. However, Trina clarified, stating, “there is no beef between me and Nicki Minaj. There will be no disrespect for Nicki Minaj or anybody else that’s on my album.” Despite this, it seems that the two have not collaborated again since then.
Thursday afternoon, Trina addressed the backlash from social media users who called her out.
Trina fans were sure to come to her defense as well, with one Twitter user questioning, “What doors did that lady open for Trina?” Towards the beginning of Minaj’s career, the ladies seemingly had a great friendship. The ladies frequently showed love to one another in interviews and even worked together on Yo Gotti’s “5 Star Chick Remix.”
