Thursday it was confirmed by authorities that the fire that broke out at Dolphins’ wide receiver Tyreek Hill‘s Florida mansion was caused accidentally by a child playing with a lighter.

The incident took place on Wednesday, just before 2 p.m. in the gated community of Southwest Ranches. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and the fire only caused damage to the attic and roof, with smoke damage throughout the house.

“It was caused by a child playing with a lighter within one of the bedrooms alone,” Fire Marshall Robert Taylor from the Davie Fire Rescue Department said. “Thankfully, everyone was able to get out safely.”

According to reports, Davie and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue teams effectively contained the fire in about two hours.

The Dolphins‘ star wasn’t home during the fire, but upon rushing back from practice, he was spotted embracing his family with a boot on his foot.

His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said the flames were contained to one room but said there was extensive water damage.

“He is going to be fine physically, mentally this is challenging,” Rosenhaus said.

According to reports, Hill purchased the home for $6.9 million in 2022.
