Duane “Keefe D” Davis has been granted a $750,000 bond for his role in the 1996 death of Tupac Shakur.

On Tuesday, a judge set the bond for Davis. Additionally, if he can bail out of jail, the ex-gang member will be allowed to remain on house arrest until his murder trial in June. Davis’ attorneys previously requested no more than a $100,000 bond. However, they believe that Davis will be able to come up with a larger amount.

Davis was previously accused of making threats to potential witnesses over the jail phone. His attorneys have claimed his calls were “misinterpreted.” Nevertheless, the alleged threats could have played a role in the judge opting for a higher bond. During an October 2023 phone call, Davis used the term “green light,” which authorities believed was an instruction to do harm to someone. However, his attorneys say this was simply a misunderstanding. Furthermore, they have questioned why police did not arrest Davis years ago despite police interviews, a book detailing the murder of Shakur titled “Compton Street Legend,” and multiple interviews with media personalities, including VladTV.

Davis is the sole survivor from the vehicle that opened fire on Shakur and his former Death Row label head, Suge Knight. Davis’s nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, was the supposed triggerman in the murder, which stemmed from a fight in a Las Vegas casino on that fateful evening. However, Davis is accused of providing the gun and orchestrating the killing. Deandrae “Big Dre” Smith was reportedly in the backseat with Anderson, while Terry “Bubble Up” Brown was said to be the driver of the car where the shots came from. Davis was sitting in the front passenger seat next to Brown and witnessed the entire incident. He is the last surviving person who was present in the car.

Davis’s Las Vegas home was raided in July 2023, though it’s unknown what was found that linked him to the death of Shakur.
