Six O-Block Members Found Guilty Of Murdering Chicago Rapper FBG Duck In 2020

Chicago Rapper FBG Duck

A jury has convicted six O-Block members of the shocking 2020 murder of embattled rapper FBG Duck.

On Wednesday, the five-men and seven-women federal jury delivered a guilty verdict after 16 hours of deliberation. Duck, born Carlton Weekly, was slain in a daytime drive-by shooting in August 2020 while shopping in Chicago’s lavish Gold Coast district. The months-long trial included several witnesses and multiple pieces of evidence, including diss tracks that were hurled between members of two South Side gang factions.

In October 2021, charges, including murder in aid of racketeering, were brought against O-Block members Charles Liggins, 32; Kenneth Roberson, 30; Christopher Thomas, 24; Marcus Smart, 25; Tacarlos Offerd, 32; and Ralph Turpin, 34.

Duck, who was affiliated with the STL faction of Gangster Disciples, was the focus of a dangerous feud with now-deceased rapper King Von following the release of his diss track “Dead B***hes” in 2020. On the afternoon of August 4th, 2020, while shopping for his son’s birthday present in the Dolce & Gabbana store on East Oak Street, Duck bumped into Turpin, who then called members of O-Block, notifying them that Duck was in the area. Prosecutors say this led to them coming to the area to kill Duck. Von was killed months later, in November 2020, in Atlanta.

Much of the prosecution relied on the music, video from that day, and informants, while the defense argued that the records were merely entertainment. Nevertheless, the men were found guilty for their roles in Duck’s death. A sentencing date has not yet been announced.
