The Golden State Warriors have been on a tough road trip and wanted to use tonight’s game against the Utah Jazz as a bounce-back game. Draymond Green. most notably, has returned from his indefinite suspension and has the desire to get this team back on track. Unfortunately, the organization suffered a tragedy when assistant coach Dejan Milojevic had a heart attack at dinner in Salt Lake City last night.

The former three-time ABA MVP had an outstanding career playing overseas, after not being selected in the 1999 NBA draft. He retired from playing in 2009 and found his calling as a coach in Serbia. As a coach, he trained several players who went on to play in the NBA, including the two-time MVP Nikola Jokic. In his second year with the Golden State Warriors, he was able to obtain a championship ring.

We are absolutely devastated by Dejan Milojević's sudden passing.

This is a shocking and tragic blow for everyone associated with the Warriors and an incredibly difficult time for his family, friends, and all of us who had the incredible pleasure to work with him.

He was a big-man coach who was personable and left a huge impact on this organization in such little time. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr released a statement Wednesday about the shocking passing of Milojevic.

“This is a shocking and tragic blow for everyone associated with the Warriors and an incredibly difficult time for his family, friends, and all of us who had the incredible pleasure to work with him,” Kerr said.

“In addition to being a terrific basketball coach, Dejan was one of the most positive and beautiful human beings I have ever known, someone who brought joy and light to every single day with his passion and energy. We grieve with and for his wife, Natasha, and their children, Nikola and Masa. Their loss is unfathomable.”

Prayers to the Milojevic family and the Golden State Warriors organization.
