After just writing a blog about “Day 1” women not being appreciated once a man becomes successful, Russell Wilson has proved my point.
Wilson and his wife Ashton Meem-Wilson were high school sweethearts in Virginia. Ashton followed Wilson to North Carolina State where they attended college before Wilson completed school in Wisconsin. The couple finally wed in January 2012, before he was drafted to the Seattle Seahawks and before they won the Super Bowl this year. Wilson has been considered a severely underpaid QB and rumor has it the Seahawks are about to pay him what they owe in a major way. So what does a man do when he’s about to get paid big time? That’s right! Give his wife the boot! Word is Wilson has been seen partying with models and he and his wife haven’t really been seen together since he won the Super Bowl.
Now we’re not saying this is exactly the reason for their divorce. We’re simply speculating until further details are made available. For now, Russell Wilson has released a statement. “I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. Clearly, decisions like these don’t come easy. Ashton and I respectfully ask for prayers, understanding and privacy during this difficult time. Moving forward, I will have no further comment on this personal matter.”
