“Nothing never came easy for us coming from Uptown and I’m a continue, I ain’t done with it,” Birdman stated during his acceptance speech.
Birdman and Slim launched Cash Money Records in 1991 and went on to sign the Hot Boyz, consisting of Lil Wayne, Juvenile, B.G., and Turk. Years later, the label would also get behind Nicki Minaj, Drake, Currensy, and several other acts. Aside from the musical endeavors, Birdman and Slim have continuously given back to residents, once purchasing 50 vehicles for families in need and their annual Thanksgiving giveaway, which has been a staple in the city for over 20 years.
