Jonathan Majors faces accusations of abuse from two ex-partners, along with separate allegations linked to his time on the set of Lovecraft Country, just two months after being convicted of assaulting his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.
In a recent New York Times report, Emma Duncan and Maura Hooper detailed allegations of emotional and physical abuse during their relationships with the Marvel actor.
According to PEOPLE, Majors’s lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, described the relationships with both women as “toxic” and admitted that Majors “did say hurtful things” but denied many of the claims of physical abuse.
“These relationships were between young drama students, and all began with mutual intensity,” Chaudhry said of the alleged relationships.
During her engagement to Majors from 2015 to 2019, Duncan alleged emotional abuse and physical assaults, including choking, throwing, and causing bruises. She recounted disturbing threats made during arguments, such as Majors expressing intentions to kill her or ensure she would be unable to have children.
Hooper, who dated Majors from 2013 to 2015 at the Yale School of Drama, asserted that the actor emotionally abused her.
According to Chaudhry, Majors is “embarrassed by some of his jealous behavior” during the relationship.
Additionally, Hooper claimed Majors threatened suicide when she discovered his affair. A year after the breakup, she alleges Majors verbally attacked her over the phone, using derogatory language, encouraging self-harm, and referencing a past abortion with the statement, I’ll “rip you out of my heart the way they ripped our baby out of you.”
The Times report included allegations of Majors being aggressive with women on the set of Lovecraft Country, where he earned an Emmy nomination.
The report noted that the actor was “a buddy to male technicians and craftspeople, but to women, he could be testy and prone to argument.” It highlighted various incidents where Majors allegedly intimidated female crew members.
An assistant director claimed Majors told her she was “not welcome here” and directed her to a cramped faux bathroom.
According to the assistant director, he allegedly became upset over a schedule change and later crossed physical boundaries, making a derogatory racial remark about her appearance.
Despite HBO advising him to apologize, Chaudhry claimed that Majors had “never been told that anyone objected to his behavior.”
“Mr. Majors is a method actor, well-respected for his ability to immerse himself in character. Countless female producers, co-stars, and members on set can attest to his professionalism.”
