The reigning Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 25-22 on Sunday to win Super Bowl LVIII and secure their second consecutive Super Bowl win.
The game was a rematch of the 2020 Super Bowl, with the ending being the same.
The 49ers came out strong in the first half, with team Kicker Jake Moody nailing a 55-yard field goal to give the 49ers a 3-0 lead and securing a new record for longest field goal in a Super Bowl game.
The 49ers, led by team quarterback Brock Purdy, led the game by 7 points into the half.
During the highly anticipated halftime show, Usher put on a stellar show with special guests Alicia Keys, H.E.R., Lil Jon, Jermaine Dupri, and Ludacri. There was dancing, roller skating, and more as Usher performed some of his top hits, including Caught Up,” “You Don’t Have to Call,” “Love in This Club,” “Confessions,” “Let it Burn,” “You Got It Bad,” and more.
In the third quarter, the Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker took the title of longest field goal record from Moody by landing a 57-yard field goal to bring the score to 10-6, however, the 49ers remained in the lead in the third half.
In an intense fourth quarter, the game became tied 16-16 until Moody hit a 53-yard field goal to take the lead 19-16. The Chiefs ran the ball down the field with 9 seconds remaining before Butker was called in to put the game into overtime with a field goal kick.
The game went into overtime 19-19 ith the 49ers taking the lead with a field goal. Mahomes kept the game going by making a first down when the Chiefs had possession of the ball in overtime.
The Chiefs won the game with a final touchdown ending the game 25-22.
