Bow Wow is once again opening up about his dangerous lean addiction that put his health in jeopardy.
The “Bounce Wit Me” star sat down with “The Art of Dialogue,” where he discussed the addiction, which was at its worst during the time of his 2007 collaboration album, “Face Off” with Omarion. According to Bow, the lethal syrup nearly cost him his career and possibly his life.
“I was drinking that s*** like crazy. If you go back and watch The Road to Platinum series on BET, you’ll see so many white Styrofoam cups. I was losing my f***ing mind. That lean s*** had me f***ed up. I was just always irritated,” he revealed.
He admitted that things took a turn while touring with Chris Brown. After leaving the stage of the first show in Cincinnati, Bow collapsed. He was rushed to a hospital but ended up returning to his home in Atlanta to continue medical care. When he arrived, his symptoms continued, with Bow throwing up and suffering intense withdrawals.
His late publicist Pattie Webster, who died in 2013, swooped in to save the day, releasing a press release about the child star suffering from dehydration, which forced him to leave the tour. In reality, Bow nor his team wanted fans to know that he was battling such a strong addiction. In 2018, Bow broke his silence about lean for the first time after the death of rapper Mac Miller, who long battled drug addiction. In a series of tweets, he detailed how he was frequently high on the syrup during many of his jobs. At the height of his addiction, Bow claimed he was drinking the liquid up to seven times a day.
