Twelve Jeffrey Epstein Victims Sue the FBI for Cover-up

Twelve Jeffrey Epstein victims are suing the FBI, alleging a cover-up that allowed over two decades of sex trafficking. Despite receiving tips in 1996, no action was taken, according to the lawsuit.

The FBI began probing Epstein in 2006 but halted after his 2008 guilty plea. Tips were ignored until his 2019 arrest, ending with his suicide a month later.

“As a direct and proximate cause of the FBI’s negligence, plaintiffs would not have been continued to be sex trafficked, abused, raped, tortured, and threatened,” the complaint said.

“Jane Does 1-12 bring this lawsuit to get to the bottom — once and for all — of the FBI’s role in Epstein’s criminal sex trafficking ring,” it added.

A federal court complaint filed on Wednesday seeks damages from the U.S. government, citing a Dec. 5, 2023, Senate Judiciary Committee hearing. FBI Director Christopher Wray committed to exploring additional information with his team during the hearing.

The number of Epstein’s victims is estimated to exceed 100.

Previously, victims received around $500 million in settlements, funded by Epstein’s estate and two banks, JPMorgan Chase and Deutsche Bank, before deducting legal fees and costs.

According to Reuters, whether the 12 plaintiffs received compensation from those settlements is unclear.
