Stephen A Smith‘s long-winded and funny rivalry with Cowboys fans has been some of the best content ESPN has consistently displayed throughout the last five years. However, Smith has decided to commit to coaching one celebrity team during NBA All-Star Weekend again this season, and he has the pleasure of having Cowboys defensive star Micah Parsons on his team.
First Take host Molly Querim reported at the start of the show trolling Smith, saying that he was not only injured but that he suffered this injury at the hands of the all-pro rusher during practice yesterday.
“Not confirmed by Adrian Wojnarowski or Adam Schefter, but I was told by Stephen A if he wants to change the story when he gets here that’s fine,” Querim said to open up the show. “Stephen A Smith is one of the coaches for the celebrity All-Star game tonight, alongside our guy Shannon Sharpe tonight… So yesterday they had a practice and he started messing around with Micah Parsons of all people, one of the guys on his team, Dallas Cowboys! Micah crossed him over and all I know is Stephen A is at the hospital right now.” She even claimed he was getting X-rays this morning as well.
Tim Legler and Monica McNutt found it to be somewhat random as they both chuckled briefly. Stephen A Smith found his way on the show and vehemently denied the claims that Parson hurt him, although he was injured at the practice in Indiana yesterday.
“Ladies and Gentlemen of America Molly Querim is a pathological liar,” he told Monica, Tim, and Briant Windhorst. “That didn’t happen she made the whole thing up. Crossover by a Cowboy? Micah Parsons?”
Smith explained his side of the story, which sounded different, although he did suffer an injury at practice.
“Tim, Wemby, MnM yo man they had the practice last night and Shannon didn’t show up. So I go there cause you know I have to scout my team, cause I gotta see who I’m going to play and who will be coming off the bench and the next thing you know that damn Micah Parson is on the basketball court acting like he wanna sack quarterbacks and stuff, pushing people around!
Smith and Parsons were shooting hoops after practice was over. While shooting, Smith slipped on some water on the court and fell. His feet flew in the air and he said it felt like he was flying. Leggier told him he couldn’t use the sweat on the court as an excuse.
