Wendy’s fans are in for an unbelievable deal to celebrate March Madness.
During the month of March through April 10th, Wendy’s will offer a $1 Dave’s Single or $2 Dave’s Double. The Dave’s Single is one of the chain’s signature burgers, with a quarter-pound patty topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, mayo, and onions on a warm bun. Dave’s Double is pretty much the same concept, except foodies will be met with two beef patties.
To make this promotion even more alluring, no purchase is necessary. However, customers will need to be Wendy’s rewards members to take advantage of the bargain, though sign-up is completely free and takes only a few minutes. This move is seemingly in response to talks that the fast food chain is raising its prices.
During February’s earnings call, Wendy’s CEO Kirk Tanner attributed the “dynamic” price hike to new changes coming to locations nationwide. Particularly, Wendy’s is planning to introduce savvy new digital features such as “AI-enabled menu changes and suggestive selling.” These new gadgets will cost the company approximately $20 million, with Wendy’s allegedly raising prices to accommodate this investment. The new pricing will begin showing up next year. Wendy’s caught some flack for this, though they issued a statement assuring foodies, “[We] would not raise prices when our customers are visiting us most.”
“Any features we may test in the future would be designed to benefit our customers and restaurant crew members. Digital menuboards could allow us to change the menu offerings at different times of day and offer discounts and value offers to our customers more easily, particularly in the slower times of day,” read the statement obtained by People.
For now, prices will remain intact as the Dave single deals roll out.
