Singer and songwriter Amerie came onto the scene in 2002 with her debut album, “All I Have,” which featured the hit single “Why Don’t We Fall in Love.” The album peaked at number nine on the U.S. Billboard 200, moving roughly 89,000 copies in its first week of release, eventually becoming certified gold by the RIAA in the years that followed its debut. Following her debut success, the vocalist continued to make waves with follow-up albums “Touch” in 2005 and “Because I Love It” in 2007, sticking to a sound that meticulously blended go-go, electronic, and alternative R&B components.

In the years since her mainstream success, Amerie has shifted her focus to other endeavors. Now married with a son, she has focused heavily on her well-known Amerie’s Book Club and the publishing of her picture book, “You Will Do Great Things.” While Amerie may be less active in the music business these days, the bops that she gave us during her impressive run remain a part of our playlists today.
