Comedian Mike Epps has made a shocking revelation about his long-awaited Richard Pryor biopic.
During his viral “All The Smoke” podcast appearance, Epps gave an update regarding the project, which was first announced in 2014. Lee Daniels was set to direct the film, with Pryor chosen for the leading role. However, Epps says it was Pryor’s widow, Jennifer Lee Pryor, who put a stop to the biopic when she couldn’t get a piece of Epps.
“I was gonna play Richard Pryor, man, and then his wife—I didn’t, I didn’t screw his wife, his ex-wife, and she got mad,” Epps stated. When he refused her advances, Jennifer allegedly told the actor, “You are not gonna play Richard. You didn’t spank this a**.”
Back in 2014, when the movie was in its early talks, Epps tweeted a photo of him and Jennifer out to lunch. He even kissed her hand, captioning the picture, “Had to kiss the ring of @jennferLpryor for the blessing! You got to be stong to have been with the king!”

Apparently, Jennifer might have taken this gesture the wrong way, though Epps wasn’t willing to cross that line. The “Next Friday” star did get a chance to play the late stand-up entertainer in HBO’s “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.” Sadly, the feature film seems to have been put on pause indefinitely.
Epps now believes he could face consequences for spilling Jennifer’s tea, claiming she may sue him for his comments. Though, he seems unbothered by the possible threats of a lawsuit.
