Swizz Beatz and Timbaland are pursuing additional compensation from Triller regarding the ‘Verzuz‘ legal dispute.
According to legal documents, Swizz and Timbaland are requesting $565,000 to address legal expenses following Triller’s alleged failure to fulfill the initial $100,000 owed. They have invoked the Affidavit Of Confession of Judgment to advocate for raising the total payment sum. Triller will be liable for $565,000 plus an additional nine percent if their efforts succeed.
Originally, the Verzuz creators claimed that Triller had agreed to compensate them with $18 million by March 2022, followed by monthly payments of $1 million for the subsequent ten months. However, they eventually reached a settlement for a $28 million agreement.
“VERZUZ has always been a platform that is by the artists, for the artists and with the people,” Timbaland and Swizz Beatz said at the time. “We’re glad to come to an amicable agreement with Triller and continue giving fans the music and community that they’ve come to know and love from the brand.”
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Verzuz debuted, offering entertainment to music enthusiasts of all generations. Notable battles featured Ne-Yo vs. Johnta Austin, Hit-Boy vs. Boi1da, T-Pain vs. Lil Jon, and others before Triller acquired the brand. Additionally, it evolved into a live show format, allowing fans to attend in person.
