Kanye West wants people to start giving him credit for his impact on the music industry.

West and Ty Dolla Sign joined “Big Boy TV” to promote their successful “Vultures” project, and West did not hold back from describing his influence.

“I invented every style of music of the past 20 years. I created the genre,” Ye stated bluntly.

The rapper and producer has worked with countless musicians throughout his career, which began during his tenure at Roc-A-Fella Records. According to West, his musical creations are why so many others have been able to thrive, including some of his friends.

“I created Weeknd’s genre. Trav, Drake, everybody. I’mma go ahead and say with all love, Future, and Thug also because the auto-tune album, ‘808s.’ Everybody thinks about Trav, Weeknd, and Drake but no one thinks about Future and Thug also. The auto-tune album. Now everyone, they added whatever it was to it. But here’s a new genre. It’s called making your own money genre. This music is called, like, take that middle man out,” the Yeezy founder explained to Big Boy.

Ye still appears to be friendly with each of the artists he named, except Drake, with whom he has an on-again, off-again friendship. Just days ago, he slammed the OVO frontman for taking Lil Durk on the road with him at the beginning of the “Vultures” rollout. Since Drizzy is on tour, he could likely address Ye’s comments on stage. As for Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Young Thug, and Future, none have responded to the comments, though given their apparent love for the producer, they likely have no ill will about the remarks concerning the similarities in their music.
