Caleb Williams impressed the Chicago Bears staff and new addition, wide receiver Keenan Allen, at his Pro Day at the University of Southern California. The Bears are ensuring they do not leave any stone unturned before April 25th, when they decide if Williams is the right fit as the number one pick for their organization. General Manager Ryan Poles and head coach Matt Eberflus also attended Wednesday.
Connor Morrissette from USCFootball.com reported that the decision-makers spoke with coaches and teammates Monday at Spring practice in L.A.
Wide Receiver Keenan Allen, who had recently been traded, made a surprise appearance at Williams’ pro day to observe the quarterback who is predicted to be throwing to him in the upcoming football season. After his pro day, Caleb spoke with NFL Network, referring to the Chicago Bears basically as his new destination. He was asked about having Keenan Allen in attendance.
“I’ve known Keenan for a little bit now,” Williams said. “He was with the Chargers and now he’s here for a fourth-round pick which is crazy, coming off his best year.”
The projected number-one pick on the team showed his arm strength and performed at a high level, much to the liking of the Chicago Bears management. A lot can change, but as we get closer to April 25th, it seems like a foregone conclusion that Chicago will select Williams as the number one overall pick.
