Michael Jackson’s family is divided in a legal battle, with MJ’s son Blanket trying to stop his grandmother from using estate money towards the case.
According to TMZ, Blanket, MJ’s youngest son, filed documents this week to block his grandmother Katherine from using Michael’s estate funds for an appeal.
Previously, Blanket, and his grandmother teamed up against the Jackson estate executors to block a major business deal they opposed.
The documents don’t reveal the transaction’s details, but recent reports hint at its connection to the estate’s $600 million deal with Sony to sell half of Michael’s music catalog.
However, the court rejected their arguments against the deal, seemingly ending the legal dispute.
Katherine has chosen to appeal the ruling, a decision Blanket wants no involvement in. Now, he opposes his father’s estate covering her legal expenses, as he is one of the heirs and values the estate’s funds.
According to reports, Blanket doubts the appeal’s success and opposes the estate covering the costs, contrary to Katherine’s wishes.
He has also requested the court to grant Katherine reasonable attorney’s fees from the pre-appeal battle, acknowledging her entitlement to them to some degree.
Recently, executors of Michael’s estate disclosed her seven-figure yearly allowance, funds Blanket feels should cover the appeal instead of using the estate’s money.
