Shortly after Erykah Badu seemingly suggested that Bey stole her beaded bang hairstyle, the singer’s longtime publicist, Yvette Noel Schure, shared an Instagram Reel, which shows the “Renaissance” star rocking similar looks throughout the years, dating back long before the “Lemonade” era.
“She slays. She slays. Now. Then. Always. act ii COWBOY CARTER 3.29,” captioned the post before ending with a shady hashtag, “#criticswithoutcredentials.”
Her post follows several from Badu, who has accused Bey of copying her in the past. This time around, the soul singer shared an image of Bey’s photoshoot for “Cowboy Carter,” which offers the 42-year-old mogul rocking the beaded bangs. Badu simply captioned the image, “Hmm.” Once the BeyHive caught wind of this subtle shot, they wasted no time dragging the “Bag Lady” for filth across social media. This led to Badu speaking out and calling on Jay-Z to calm the Hive.
“To Jay Z . Say somethin Jay. You gone let this woman and these bees do this to me ??” Badu wrote on Twitter.
Badu previously criticized Bey for rocking a high-top hat during her performances, similar to a piece that she’s worn in the past. While there doesn’t appear to be any indication that Yonce is inspired by Badu’s looks, that hasn’t stopped her fellow vocalist from speaking out about the similarities.
