The New York attorney general’s office announced that it has filed judgments in Westchester County, where former President Trump’s golf resort and private estate known as Seven Springs is located. This is the first step to moving forward with seizing the asset.

The Hill reported that the judgments were filed with the Westchester County clerk’s office earlier this month. Judge Arthur Engoron presided over the civil fraud trial against Trump and his business and entered his multimillion-dollar judgment before the filing of the judgments,

Engoron ruled that Trump, the Trump Organization, and top executives, including two of Trump’s sons — Eric and Donald Jr. — were liable for fraud after they conspired to change Trump’s net worth for tax and insurance benefits.

The judge ordered them to pay $464 million, plus interest, the outlet added.

Trump has until Monday to fork over the judgment to post a surety bond for his portion of the judgment before New York Attorney General Letitia James can start seizing his assets. It’s possible for the former president to Trump post the bond, which will automatically pause the process so that he can appeal Engoron’s ruling.

James previously said that if Trump lacks the funds to pay off the judgment, her office will seek “judgment enforcement mechanisms in court.”

A judgment has already been entered in New York City, where Trump’s trial took place. The former president’s famous 40 Wall Street and Trump Tower properties are located there.

Trump’s lawyers admitted that he could not secure a full appeal because he couldn’t access the cash on hand and requested that they accept a $100 million bond instead.

However, James’s office argued against it, telling a state appeals court that there is no rule limiting Trump to a single bond from a single surety for the full judgment amount to limit “any individual surety’s risk.” The state also noted that Engoron found Giulietti lacked credibility due to an “ongoing personal and professional relationship with Donald Trump.”

Trump’s deadline to pay the bond is Monday.
