The Beef Continues– J. Cole Fires Back At Kendrick Lamar: “Your First Sh*t was Classic, Your Last Sh*t was Tragic”

J. Cole wasted no time firing back at Kendrick Lamar with his newly unveiled “7 Minute Drill.”

The track was unveiled as part of Cole’s unexpected “Might Delete Later” project, which dropped Friday. The 12-track mixtape concluded with the most talked about single, which took direct aim at Lamar, whom Cole previously viewed as being part of his “Big Three.”

“I got a phone call, they say that somebody dissin’/ You want some attention, it come with extensions,” Cole said in the chorus before letting off a string of lethal disses towards his former friend.

“Your first sh** was classic, your last sh** was tragic/ Your second sh** put niggas to sleep, but they gassed it/ Your third sh** was massive, and that was your prime,” Cole fired off, referring to “Good Kid, M.A.A.D City,” “To Pimp a Butterfly,” and “Damn,” which all achieved multi-platinum status.

It’s unclear how this feud began, though on the 2023 single “First Person Shooter,” Cole praised Lamar, rapping, “Love when they argue the hardest MC/ Is it K-Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me?/ We the big three like we started a league, but right now, I feel like Muhammad Ali.”

Lamar didn’t take too kindly to being aligned with the “Big Three,” which he made crystal clear on “Like That.”

“Think I won’t drop the location? I still got PTSD/ Motherf*** the big three, nigga, it’s just big me,” Lamar rapped during his verse on the Metro Boomin’ and Future track.

Hopefully, these two can get back on the same page, though that does not seem possible at the moment.
