Over the Easter weekend, a heist unfolded in the San Fernando Valley that has since been branded one of the largest thefts in Los Angeles history. Federal and local law enforcement officials converged on a seemingly ordinary warehouse operated by Gardaworld, a global security giant, in Sylmar, where burglars executed a meticulously planned robbery.

The culprits vanished with an estimated $20 to $30 million in cash, targeting a vault within the Gardaworld facility on Roxford Street. Despite the significant amount stolen, details about the heist remain scarce, with the FBI and Los Angeles Police Department keeping cards close to their chest and no suspects announced yet.

Key Questions Surrounding the Heist:

Target Selection: Gardaworld, known for its security services and cash management, was unlikely chosen at random. The firm boasts over 132,000 employees worldwide, yet it remains a mystery how its Los Angeles branch, tucked away in a suburban area, became the target for such a significant heist, especially during a holiday when operations were likely minimized.

Method of Entry: The thieves reportedly accessed the building by breaching the roof, triggering at least one alarm that, surprisingly, wasn’t linked to local law enforcement. A plywood-covered hole in the building’s side suggests an attempted or secondary entry point, hinting at the burglars’ determination and planning.

The Culprits: With the heist’s sophistication, experts speculate a professional crew with possible inside knowledge orchestrated the operation. Investigators are scouring for similar global incidents that might be connected, while also gathering surveillance footage from the vicinity.

Traceability of the Stolen Cash: The big question remains whether the stolen cash can be traced. Factors like recorded serial numbers or the money being freshly in circulation could play crucial roles. Additionally, advancements in forensic science, like touch DNA, might turn the smallest oversight into a breakthrough clue.

Community Clues: Despite the operation’s stealth, minor disruptions were noted by locals, including unusual noises and Wi-Fi outages, possibly hinting at the use of jammers to disable security systems, a tactic known among theft gangs.
