The Young Thug YSL trial has now stretched into its 64th day, and it seems we are no closer to a conclusion than when it began. Since starting in November 2023, the trial has been projected to potentially extend until 2027. The case against Young Thug has drawn particular scrutiny, with prosecutors using his social media posts and song lyrics to argue that YSL is a criminal gang, and he its leader.
As the trial drags on, the patience of those involved is wearing thin. On day 50, a witness known as A. Bennett told Young Thug’s lawyer, Keith Adams, that she felt violated and “sexually harassed” by an investigator from the Fulton County District Attorney’s office, who allegedly made unwanted romantic advances.
By day 62, the tension escalated between Fulton County Superior Court Judge Ural Glanville and the attorneys. Judge Glanville expressed his frustration over the slow progress of the RICO trial and admonished both defense and prosecution for their delays in filing motions. He even threatened to hold court sessions on weekends if things didn’t speed up. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis echoed this sentiment, warning that failure to properly file motions on time could result in jail time for the lawyers involved.
On day 64, the proceedings continued without any bickering, although a former investigator testified confidently that YSL was indeed a gang, countering Thug’s claims that it is merely a record label. As the trial is set to continue, the list of upcoming witnesses remains undetermined, and a resolution appears far off.
