Luxury Law is a very busy man with styling some of our favorite celebrities. With all that he is doing, we had a chance to catch up with him and talk about Zendaya’s future, styling his clients, and taking fashion risks.
Check out the exclusive interview below:
On behalf of BallerAlert.com I’d like to extend our many thanks for this interview. We have been following you for months and we love your work and the transformation of your clients. For those that may not know Luxury Law, could you let our readers know who is “Luxury Law?”
I’m just an ordinary guy from the south side of Chicago with a not so ordinary career.
Who are some of your clients?
Zendaya, LaLa Anthony, Jeremih and Monica to name a few.
I just love Zendaya Coleman. Her style is beyond amazing thanks to you. How did you two connect with one another?
I’ve been working with Zendaya since she was 13 years old. Her aunt introduced us.
With Zendaya being so young and a lot of her younger fans remember her from Disney, how do you go about styling her without her looking too mature because you seem to get it right every time?
Thank you for the compliment! It’s actually really hard. She’s at that age where she’s not an adult, but she’s not a kid anymore so it’s tough to find that happy medium. But Zendaya is very in tune with her position with her fans. It’s hard, but we both love the challenge.
One of my personal favorite looks that you did for Zendaya was for the Grammys. She wore a fabulous dress designed by Emanuel Ungaro. Were you nervous about presenting such a sexy yet classy look since we have never seen her in the limelight that way?
I was extremely nervous! We had never done anything like that before. When I saw the dress, I knew it was the one, and when I showed Zendaya, she knew it was the one too. It was perfect!
Zendaya is definitely on the rise, especially with one of the best stylist by her side. Where do you see her fashion taking her, maybe modeling?
Definitely! I would love to see her with a beauty campaign and walking in the shows of some of the most renowned designers, and ultimately on the cover of Vogue.
There are a lot of stylists that sometimes have their ‘off’ moments when it comes to styling celebrities. Have you ever had a moment where you thought, “ I shouldn’t have put that on my client?”
Thank God not yet! (laughing) I haven’t had moments where I thought “I shouldn’t have put him/her in that” but I have had moments where I thought that I should’ve added something.
When preparing to style your clients for big events, what process do you go through to make sure you create the “perfect” look?
Options. Options. Options.
With your client list increasing, have you ever worked with a client that was hard to style?
I hate to sound boring, but no. It’s all about knowing my clients, their bodies, and what works best for them. I have a client that wears a size 15 in shoes so finding cool shoes in his size is a challenge. Other than that, I haven’t had this experience…knock on wood.
What are some of your goals as a celebrity stylist?
This may sound a little cheesy, but my goals are to keep making my clients happy and to ensure that they keep having amazing moments!
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Rich? (laughter) I honestly don’t know where I want to be in 5 years, I’m just living for today.
I would like to thank you for this interview and bringing life to the red carpets. We can’t wait to see to what you create next. Congratulations on all of your hard work and getting the recognition you deserve!
