A string of feuds has rocked the world of hip-hop in recent weeks. However, the long standing rift between Chris Brown and Quavo was re-ignited, with things taking a nastier turn. On the track “Weakest Link,” the singer mentioned Quavo’s nephew and group member, Takeoff, in a brazen lyric.
“R.I.P. Takeoff, he the only real one that got true respect/Crazy how when he died, everybody really wished it was you instead (Oh s**t, brrah),” Brown rapped.
He also made revelations about allegedly sleeping with Saweetie while she was dating Quavo, which is the theme of their earlier disses towards one another. In early April, Brown dropped the track “Freak” from the deluxe version of his “11:11” album. In the single, which features Lil Wayne, Joyner Lucas, and Tee Grizzley, Brown slammed Quavo for sleeping with his ex-girlfriend, whom most presumed to be Karrueche Tran.
“F***ing my old b****es ain’t gone make us equal/ Sipping that 1942 ’cause I don’t do no Quavo/ Freak b***h she like Casamigos, not the Migos,“ Brown rapped.
Quavo fired back on April 12th with a track of his own titled “Tender,“ where he accused Brown of being an abuser and having a drug problem.
“You did the b***h wrong and now the b***h gone, she posted with a thug/ Call the b***h phone, she won’t come home, don’t beat her up / It must be the drugs, need to cross out your plug,“ the Migos star rapped.
Rappers rumbling lyrically over women certainly is nothing new. However, the mention of Takeoff and wishing it was Quavo who perished places a much more ominous tone over the entire feud. While the world has praised the competitiveness of recent hip-hop disses, such as Drake’s “Push Ups” and Rick Ross’s “Champagne Moments,“ Brown’s “Weakest Link“ may present a possibility for his beef with Quavo to be taken offline.
This poses the question: Has Chris Brown taken things too far, or is all fair in rap beef?
