Gervonta Davis Says Devin Haney's Partying Has Slowed Him Down As A Boxer

Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney

Gervonta “Tank” Davis thinks Devin Haney‘s partying and drinking have slowed down his boxing improvement.

In an exclusive interview with Baller Alert, the former three-division world champion shared his assessment of Haney’s boxing prowess.

In February, Ryan Garcia released a video of Davis and Haney sparring from nine years ago. In the footage, Davis is observed landing significant blows on Haney.

When questioned about Haney’s improvement since their sparring session nine years ago, Davis remarked that Haney was a more skilled boxer at that time compared to now.

“I think he was best on his game when he was that age. I think he was 17. I feel as though he slowed down. All that partying and drinking stuff slowed him down.”

The two boxers were recently involved in a heated exchange at the Fontainebleau in Vegas.

Although the reason behind their verbal altercation remains unclear, some speculate it may be linked to Tank’s defense of Garcia against allegations of PED use following Garcia’s victory over Haney.

Garcia knocked Haney down three times in the match, marking Haney’s first loss as the WBC super lightweight champion. Davis came to Garcia’s defense on social media amid accusations of cheating.

“I feel like they tried to attack him. A lot of people see that he plays like he’s off so they try to clout chase,” Davis told Baller Alert. “Nobody’s standing up for him. No other fighter. So, I stepped in.”

The WBA lightweight champion will face Frank Martin on June 15, promising an event more thrilling than Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul among all the June matchups.
