As the WNBA season begins, there is newfound excitement surrounding the ladies. Games have sold out in the preseason, even in Canada. And for the first time this season, two teams traveled by charter.
The 2023 WNBA MVP and WNBAPA Executive board member Breanna Stewart announced on X, formerly Twitter that this progress for the W is a win.
2 out of 5 WNBA teams traveling today are on WNBA charters – and that’s a win. It could be a bigger one if the W allowed teams who were not offered League charters to secure their own until a full 12 team solution is ready. @WNBA

An extra $21 million has been placed into chartering for the ladies this season. The Indiana Fever posted a video of them on their chartered flight as they traveled Monday to take on the Connecticut Sun Tuesday night in Caitlin Clark’s debut.
