Agree Or Disagree: Is It True That Everyone Has A Price?

This topic of discussion came up over the weekend while I was hanging out with friends and it really got me thinking. There is an old saying that everyone has a price. Is this true? Let’s take a specific scenario, for instance. Let’s say that you have been dating your guy for 3 years. He’s a good man and he’s good to you, however financially you two are struggling. You’re behind on bills, you’re stressed out and frankly, neither one of you has it completely together. This struggle often times causes unnecessary stress in your relationship and if something doesn’t change fast,  you can see things going downhill quickly. One day a wealthy man offers you one million dollars to sleep with him, no strings attached. A million dollars may not seem like much, but it’s definitely enough to get all of your debt paid for with a nice chunk of change left over. You bring up the idea to your man and obviously he says he doesn’t want you to do it. Not only does he NOT want you to take the offer, he says that if you do, he’ll leave you. What do you do?

As a twist, let’s even take sex out of the equation all together. If your significant other did NOT want you taking money from another man, even though you didn’t have to have sex with him. Would you still take the money and fix your financials, or would you respect your man’s wishes.

Do you take the million dollar payout despite what your man says, in an attempt to not only fix your financial hardships but hopefully elevate the stress he’s going through. Or do you respect his wishes and continue to fight through your financial struggles together.

For me, it’s hard to say. You never realize how big of an issue financial problems can be until you’ve actually had to go through it. Though it’s true money doesn’t buy happiness, it keeps the lights on and a roof over my head and those things keep me happy. If you were at risk of losing all of that, how could you not consider sleeping with a man for a million dollars. Face it, people are sleeping around for a lot less.

But then again, is a million dollars a high enough price tag for your relationship? Is there a dollar amount that you can put on your loved one’s feelings?

What would you do if the opportunity presented itself?
