Sean Kingston is in hot water over a massive fraud case, and one jeweler is shedding light on how the singer has a history of finessing people.
Anastas Babakhanyan, known as Jewelertothestars on Instagram and AP the Jeweler, shared that the “Beautiful Girls” singer came to him for a few custom pieces worth $250,000. According to Babakhanyan, Kingston only gave him half the money but refused to pay the balance. He says Kingston also kept the jewelry.
“It’s still a open situation,” Babakhanyan explained during an appearance on the We In Miami podcast. “Rappers always feel like, they want you to do something for them special because of who they are. I’d be out of business if I did that.”
His words seemingly align with Kingston’s current legal troubles. He is currently facing ten fraud charges in Florida following a raid on his home. He is being accused of engaging in an organized scheme to defraud several companies. According to the court documents, Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, allegedly ripped off several businesses, including a car dealership, where they received a Cadillac Escalade valued at $159,701.49. Another jeweler alleges the pair ran off with $480,000 worth of jewelry.
Rumors about Kingston running off on tabs have plagued him for years, though it appears to be the first time that real legal action is taking place. Babakhanyan says he did not press charges against Kingston but suggested he is looking for other ways to get the money owed to him.
