Thursday, former President Donald Trump was found guilty of all charges in his hush money trial.
Trump had previously pled not guilty to all 34 charges in the indictment revolving around falsifying business records related to reimbursements for a “hush money” payment made by his former attorney Michael Cohen to adult film star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election.
The 12-member jury heard weeks of testimony detailing tabloid deal-making, a sexual encounter between Trump and Daniels, and the $130,000 payoff that kept her silent. Trump denied having any relations with Daniels.
Prosecutors argued that Trump engaged in fraud against the American people by falsifying records related to reimbursing Cohen, who paid Daniels out of his own pocket.
This marks the first criminal conviction of a former president.
