Charlamagne Tha God has set a tentative expiration date for his time at The Breakfast Club, indicating he has bigger plans on the horizon.
Since 2010, the charismatic personality has co-hosted the popular New York City-based morning show on Power 105.1 alongside DJ Envy. Angela Yee, who was a co-host until 2022, has since been replaced by Jess Hilarious.
During a recent appearance on the Flagrant podcast, Charlamagne was asked about his future plans for the show.
“I personally have a number,” he revealed around the 2:15:54 mark. “Not even Breakfast Club, but just being a talent period. Not a financial number.”
Charlamagne clarified that he won’t be leaving the industry entirely.
“I like being behind the scenes a lot more nowadays. Empowering other people, watching people get their shine, watching other people become these great entities that people love and connect with.”
Known for his controversial opinions, Charlamagne also spoke about Kanye West during his Flagrant podcast appearance, criticizing him for trying to involve himself in the feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
He further declared Kanye musically irrelevant.
“Nobody cares about Kanye rapping,” he stated. “If Kanye had done this 10 years ago, it’s like, ‘Ooh shit, Kanye inserted himself in the beef!’ But nobody gives a fuck about Kanye rapping in 2024. Especially when the guys that are rapping are the rappers you actually want to hear from.”
Charlamagne tha God recently spoke on how many more years he has left with The Breakfast Club.
