Last week, the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 2023-24 NBA season ended after their loss to the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals. Despite not achieving their championship dreams, Anthony Edwards remains optimistic about the future of the team and his career.
Adidas Basketball recently released a new video as part of their AE 1 campaign featuring Edwards confronting his critics. The ad begins with a machine printing receipts filled with negative comments about Edwards. These statements are read aloud by a friend while Edwards focuses on his jumpshots. What caught the attention of many were comments from Cam’ron and Carmelo Anthony.
On Cam’ron’s receipt, the rapper remarked that Edwards was exceptionally talented but “not a superstar yet.” Edwards found the comment hilarious and laughed, responding, “f*ck buddy.” Additionally, Carmelo Anthony questioned Edwards’ commitment to being the face of the league, stating, “they’re throwing that out there too loosely.”
Edwards ended the ad with a signature dunk, dismissing the naysayers he promises to prove wrong. Naturally, social media users had plenty to say about the video. Some praised Edwards for responding to the negativity, while others criticized Adidas for their marketing tactics.
