Dana Stubblefield, who played 11 seasons in the NFL, has once again found himself on the wrong side of the law. The former lineman is being accused of sexually assaulting a developmentally disabled woman, according to reports.
The 31 year old victim says that in April 2015, she interviewed with Stubblefield for a babysitting position she heard about on sittercity.com. Prior to the interview Stubblefield told the alleged victim that he would compensate her for the gas, mileage and time it took her to come to the interview — a total that came to $80. The victim left the interview and forgot to get the $80 that was promised. She says, that’s when Stubblefield realized, and text her to return back to his home to collect the money. The sexual assault allegedly occurred when the women returned to Stubblefield’s home.
Stubblefield does not deny that a sexual act took place, but says that it was consensual. “I will defend myself with all of my strength,” Stubblefield said in a press conference Tuesday. “I look forward to being able to prove my innocence.” Stubblefield says that because he works closely with the Special Olympics, these accusations are especially hurtful. However, according to Stubbliefield’s defense, they do not believe the woman was disabled. In fact, they believe this is all a money grab.
