Kenneth Copeland, also known as “Lil Woody,” was taken into custody after he refused to testify in the RICO trial of Young Thug and other YSL co-defendants.
On Friday, Copeland, a witness in the Young Thug/YSL RICO trial, was arrested for contempt of court. He invoked his Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination and to avoid testifying against Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffery Williams. When prosecutors asked Copeland his age, he responded, “I’m grown. I’m an adult.” When pressed for his exact age, he said, “I take the fifth.”
Judge Ural Glanville then ordered Copeland to be held in contempt until Monday, as the prosecution had already granted him immunity in exchange for his testimony.
Copeland, a convicted felon, was previously arrested in Fulton County in October 2021 with a loaded gun in the car he was driving.
After his arrest, Copeland reportedly gave police information about several past and future crimes and indicated that he would help obtain a confession from Young Thug. A video of his police interview was leaked to the media.
Young Thug’s attorney, Brian Steel, immediately filed for a mistrial following Copeland’s arrest, but the judge denied the motion. Court is set to resume at 9 a.m. on Monday.
