Tuesday, June 11th was an exciting day for rapper Juvenile, as it was officially declared “Back That Azz Up” Day in New Orleans.
Mayor LaToya Cantrell made the declaration, which marked the 25th anniversary of Juvenile’s hit single. The track serves as one of the Hot Boys alum’s biggest releases. To commemorate the song and newly introduced holiday, the Cash Money rapper planned his weekly Juvie Tuesday party at the Treme Hideaway. Several DJs and food vendors were also lined up for the festive occasion. In a statement following the declaration, Juvenile expressed his gratitude for how well received the track has been throughout the years.

“This song has been a huge part of my musical journey, and it’s amazing to see it still resonate with people today, and I can’t wait for the moment each night of the tour when the song drops,” Juvenile shared.
While it’s too early to know how residents of New Orleans will partake in “Back That Azz Up” Day in the future, Juvenile plans on celebrating for the rest of the year. On the same day announced his surprise tour on the same day of the declaration. The nationwide trek will kick off on July 7th in his hometown and conclude on New Years Eve in the exact same place. He will be taking along the 400 Degreez Band as he performs live for fans, who have kept the single alive for 25 years.
“Yall made the tiny desk happen so this is your reward,” Juvie wrote on Twitter, followed by a list of dates.
