Rapper Remy Ma’s son, Jayson Scott, has been charged with the 2021 murder of a man in Queens, NY, according to police. Scott, 23, along with Richard Swygert, 22, faces first-degree murder charges for the shooting death of 47-year-old Darius Guillebeaux on June 7, 2021.
Remy Ma expressed her support for her son, telling TMZ, “We stand by Jayson’s innocence and pray that the NYPD will conduct a complete and thorough investigation to reveal the truth. This is undoubtedly a difficult time for my family and me. While we sincerely appreciate the love and support we have received from all of you, we kindly ask for privacy as our legal team works to prove Jayson’s innocence.”
Guillebeaux was confronted by two men who opened fire at 148th St. and Rockaway Blvd. in South Jamaica. He was hit multiple times in the head and chest and later died at Jamaica Hospital. Guillebeaux had a criminal record, having served three terms in state prison for drug and robbery charges. He was also involved in a 2020 drug sweep known as “Operation Heat Wave.”
Swygert, already linked to two other murders, has been in jail since 2021. He was charged with a murder at a Queens karaoke bar and another shooting outside a Queens hotel.
Scott, one of Remy Ma’s two children, has been at Rikers Island since his arrest last month on a weapons charge. He was caught with a loaded .40-caliber Glock and liquid promethazine in Queens. Scott has also appeared on reality TV with his mother, who has a history of legal issues herself.
Remy Ma, whose real name is Reminisce Smith, spent six years in prison for shooting her friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph in 2007 over a money dispute. She was released in 2014 and later faced charges for allegedly assaulting “Love & Hip Hop” cast member Brittney Taylor in 2019, though those charges were dropped.
The rapper rose to fame as part of Fat Joe’s Terror Squad and has been married to rapper Papoose since 2008. They have a child together and recently celebrated Remy Ma’s birthday with a grand “Remderella” gala.
