Bronny James is set to rock the No. 9 jersey in his rookie year with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Bronny was selected as the 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. His jersey will proudly display “James Jr.” on the back. This marks a historic moment as Bronny joins his father, LeBron James, creating the first active father-son duo in NBA history.

Throughout his high school career at Sierra Canyon, Bronny wore No. 0 and later switched to No. 6 during his time at USC. The No. 6 was a nod to his father’s number with the Lakers and Miami Heat. However, the NBA retired No. 6 to honor the late Bill Russell, so Bronny had to choose a different number. LeBron currently wears No. 23.
Bronny joins a legacy of players who have worn No. 9 for the Lakers, including notable names like Nick Van Exel, Matt Barnes, Luol Deng, and Rajon Rondo. The last player to wear it was forward Sterling Brown during the 2022-23 season, although his time on the court was brief.
