Angela Simmons is defending her accessory of choice that accompanied her BET Awards outfit.
On last night, the 2024 BET Awards took place and had some interesting looks that graced the red carpet, with one celeb really capturing the attention of the viewers. Ms. Angela Simmons arrived at the event wearing a green strapless fitted dress with a purse that resembled a handgun. Many social media users called out Angela for the gun purse, especially since her child’s father passed away from gun violence in 2018.
“Angela Simmons son is growing up without his Father & never even had the chance to know him because he was a victim of gun violence & she wants to be a corny low life goof walking around with a clip as a prop,” one X user tweeted. “This can’t be the legendary Rev Run’s daughter.”
However, before the night ended, Angela took to her Instagram Story to defend her purse and explained that the situation was not as deep as the public was trying to make it.
“I’m not like that, never been like that,” Angela began. “I’m not violent. I’ve obviously been through a lot in my personal life when it comes to gun violence and it’s very personal to me. But, I just liked the bag and I thought it was cool and I thought it was a fashion moment. That was it. I didn’t have any intention of ruffling anyone feathers. I don’t mean no harm. I’m sorry if it bothered anyone.”
