“You sitting on the couch, you’re watching TV, and your life is passing you by!”
If you’re a millennial, you likely remember those words from the infamous Everest College commercial that aired seemingly every 15 minutes during shows like Jerry Springer, Maury, and other daytime TV shows.
Well, the “Everest College Guy,” EdNut Rabouin, is clarifying recent headlines about his college attendance. This comes after a clip from his 2022 interview with YouTuber Curtiss King resurfaced this week, causing a stir on social media.
Babatunde shared behind-the-scenes details about creating the infamous Everest College commercial in the May 2022 interview, which went viral Wednesday after the Art of Dialogue posted it on X. He revealed that the commercial wasn’t filmed on an Everest campus but at an Embassy Suites parking lot in Phoenix, Arizona, using car headlights for lighting. However, when Curtiss asked if he had ever attended college, Babatunde’s response, “Hell nah! Hey, if I had attended Everest College, I couldn’t have gotten paid for none of their commercials,” led some to believe he had never attended any college.
Wednesday evening, Babatunde posted a video on social media addressing the viral headlines. “Yo, World Star. Y’all need to calm down for real. I never said I never went to college. I said I never went to Everest College. I did like three semesters at Phoenix College. So don’t say I never went to college. I went to college. I didn’t graduate, but I went to college.”
He continued, “Y’all get your facts straight. The headline, ‘Everest College Guy said he never went to college,’ that’s bullshit. I went to college. All right. Fuck around, you’re gonna hear from my lawyers. You know what I’m saying? I’m just kidding. I ain’t got no lawyers but I’m just saying, man, calm down.”
