Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals are a much more accepted means for college athletes to make money, and many are cashing in.

Under NILs, athletes are allowed to work with brands and platforms in a variety of different capacities. Through such contracts, some have been raking in more dough than professional league athletes. Angel Reese famously said in April 2023: “The money I’m making is more than some of the people that are in the league that might be top players.” This proved true, with Reese estimated to bring in $1.8 million through her NIL deals before signing with the Chicago Sky.

Bryce Young is another player who raked in millions during his college career before going pro. NIL valuation site, On3, estimates that he earned roughly $3.5 million before getting drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the 2023 NFL Draft.  His rookie contract is worth nearly $38 million, per CBS Sports.

While Reese and Young are no longer NIL eligible since elevating to the big leagues, several of their fellow athletes who remain in school are still getting big bags thanks to their talents.

Shedeur Sanders – NIL valuation – $4.9 million

Colorado University star Shedeur Sanders is estimated to have a NIL worth of $4.9 million. Sanders’ portfolio includes deals with Gatorade, Beats by Dre, and Under Armour, to name a few.
