Two years after her divorce from DeVon Franklin, Meagan Good is opening up about her grievance process and how she can grow after her healing.
The actress recently appeared on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast and spoke about her previous marriage to DeVon Franklin and how their divorce in 2022 affected her.
“My divorce shook me to my core,” Good said. “Lord, you asked me to be celibate, and I was; you told me to marry, and I married that person.”
She continued, “I tried to do everything to the best of my ability, and no, I didn’t do everything perfect, but I don’t know if I could do anything differently if I’m being honest. I was like, why is this happening? My greatest fear was that my husband would leave me after 10 years of marriage, similar to my dad leaving my mom, and that’s exactly what happened.”
Additionally, Good revealed that she was initially upset with Franklin but was able to grow with the help of self-love and time.
“At the time, I was so mad at DeVon, but now I think what he did was brave,” Good added. “To grow where we were supposed to grow, we should’ve been married for that specific time. I can now look at DeVon and say ‘That’s a good person’ and be grateful for our time.”
Nevertheless, Good has moved on from Franklin and is now in a relationship with actor Jonathan Majors. She previously gave some advice she learned that helped her during her healing journey.
“A big part of the journey was discovering that when it feels like your life is ending, sometimes it’s really just beginning,” she told E! News. “And there’s a blessing even in what feels like one of the worst moments of your life.”
Good added, “And then trusting that process, about your perception and your attitude and how you approach it and your mentality. And so that’s something I think I could relate to the most.”
