More tragic details surrounding the death of fitness guru Richard Simmons have been revealed.Â
According to TMZ, on the evening of Friday, July 12th, Simmons suffered a fall inside his Los Angeles residence. It’s unknown where he fell or what he may have hit on his way down. However, the matter was reportedly severe enough to prompt his housekeeper to run to Simmons’ aide. She urged him to seek medical attention immediately, as he admitted feeling dizzy after being helped up. Despite her concerns, Simmons’ refused to go to the hospital because it was his 76th birthday.Â
While celebrating his special day, Simmons shared multiple messages of gratitude on social media.
“Thank you…I never got so many messages about my birthday in my life!  I am sitting here writing emails. Have a most beautiful rest of your Friday. Love, Richard,” he tweeted Friday afternoon.Â

TMZ claims that the housekeeper helped Simmons back into bed after his tumble, only to discover him unresponsive on the floor the following morning shortly after 10:00 a.m. Sadly, emergency responders declared him dead not long after arriving at his home. No foul play is suspected in the death of the weight loss enthusiast, who rose to fame in the 1980s for his quirky workout routines and messages of body positivity.
The results of an autopsy have not yet been made public.
