Donald Trump wasted no time responding to President Joe Biden’s announcement that he won’t seek reelection in 2024, asserting that Biden was never fit to be president. In a post on Truth Social, Trump labeled Biden “Crooked Joe” and claimed that Biden should never have attained the highest office.
Trump argued that Biden won the presidency through deceit, biased media coverage, and by avoiding active campaigning. He pointed to issues like the immigration crisis at the Southern Border as evidence of the damage he believes Biden has done to the country.
“The American people have suffered greatly because of Biden’s presidency,” Trump stated, promising to “right the ship” if he is elected in November.
Biden announced his decision to drop out of the 2024 race, citing the nation’s best interests. This followed weeks of speculation and increasing calls for him to step aside, particularly after a poorly received debate performance in June.
Prominent Democrats and liberal Hollywood stars had been urging Biden to withdraw. Shortly after his announcement, Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as his preferred successor to take on Trump in the fall. However, Trump did not mention Harris in his statement.
As the election draws closer, the political landscape has shifted dramatically, setting the stage for a highly contentious race. With only 106 days until election day, the stakes have never been higher.
