Our favorite day of the week, New Music Friday, has finally arrived and the musicians did not disappoint.
This week’s tradition resembles Christmas Day for Ice Spice fans, who have patiently awaited her debut album since she burst onto the scene several years ago. On Friday, July 26th, she finally unveiled the project titled “Y2K.” The 10-track LP includes several previously released singles such as “Phat Butt,” “Did It First,” “Think U The Sh**,” and “Gimmie A Light.” Ice chose to keep the features minimal, with appearances only from Gunna, Travis Scott, and Central Cee.
Another promising album is Mustard’s compilation release, “Faith of a Mustard Seed.” The producer sought out some of hip-hop’s and R&B’s brightest stars to bring the album together. 42 Dugg, Quavo, Roddy Ricch, Charlie Wilson, and even Kirk Franklin lent their vocals to this Grammy-award-winning music maker.
Several other artists opted for singles, some of which were released before New Music Friday. Rapper Young Nudy, with help from Metro Boomin, went this route with his record “John Wayne,” which debuted on Wednesday, July 24th. That same day, Cordae and Lil Wayne introduced their latest masterpiece, “Saturday Mornings.” No matter your musical preferences, we’ve been awarded yet another Friday filled with bops for all moods.
